Philosophy with Schoolchildren

This event took place on March 1, 2020 at Pak Cahyo’s place in Keluharan Rejasari, Purwokerto, Indonesia.

For this philosophy with schoolchildren (P4C) session, Pak Cahyo had invited both elementary
and secondary school students from his neighbourhood.

Using Aesop’s fable The Bear and the Travellers as a stimulus, this BIJAK programme engaged the schoolchildren
in a philosophical discussion of friendship in an entertaining, yet educational way.

During this programme, participants applied philosophical skills (logical reasoning, critical thinking and conceptual analysis)
to explore FRIENDSHIP as a concept.
They engaged in questions and answers that helped them improve their knowledge
and gain a better understanding of the topic under discussion.

We had a lively discussion that was enjoyed by the children.
At the end of the P4C session, we could all enjoy pastries and tea, courtesy of Pak Cahyo.

We are very grateful to have this kind of program in Purwokerto. It's unique and it gets children to think deeper about issues that are relevant to their life. We hope to have more Philosophy programs in the future because the children really enjoyed it.
