Philosophy with
Secondary Students (SMP)
This event took place on March 2, 2020 at SMP Muhammadiyah, Purwokerto, Indonesia.
For this P4C Philosophy session, we took over a Secondary 1 English class (Kelas 7).
Using Aesop’s fable The Bear and the Travellers as a stimulus, this BIJAK programme engaged the students
in a philosophical discussion of friendship in an entertaining, yet educational way.
During this programme, participants applied philosophical skills (logical reasoning, critical thinking and conceptual analysis)
to explore FRIENDSHIP as a concept.
They engaged in questions and answers that helped them improve their knowledge
and gain a better understanding of the topic under discussion.
We had a very lively discussion that was enjoyed by both the students and their teacher.
