about

BIJAK (Bijak Institute of Philosophy Indonesia), an independent nonprofit organisation based in Indonesia
and operating in the Asia-Pacific region, stands for Bringing Improved Judgement, Awareness and Knowledge.

Our motto is Better Reasoning, Better Life.

BIJAK’s mission is to empower children, youth and adults – especially the underprivileged and underserved – with
practical philosophical skills that improve their reasoning. This enables them to make better decisions and choices that improve their life and future prospects in the Digital Age.

We train participants to apply logical reasoning, critical thinking and conceptual analysis to everyday life issues
to gain a better understanding of themselves, others and the world around them.

After joining our programs and workshops, participants show improved listening, critical thinking and decision-making abilities, besides a higher level of empathy, resilience and leadership.

our aim

Our aim is to train children, youth and adults, especially the underprivileged and underserved, in Indonesia and the Asia-Pacific region, to improve their reasoning so that they can have a better life and a better future, and can help others do the same.

how we achieve our objectives

A. Education & Awareness

  1. We equip children, youth and adults, especially the underprivileged and underserved, with logical reasoning and critical thinking skills that help them improve their judgement, awareness and knowledge for a more flourishing life and a better future.
  2. We strengthen the resilience of the most vulnerable groups, especially children, young people and women, so that they can manage the stresses of daily life by discerning the real significance of any situations.
  3. We promote social harmony by nurturing and disseminating values such as empathy, tolerance and acceptance of diversity through a critical examination of preconceived or imposed ideas.

B. Research & Training

  1. We organise seminars and conferences to introduce philosophy as one of the solutions to the global crisis in education.
  2. We create practical philosophy learning resources for various audiences by collaborating with educators, intellectuals and philosophers.
  3. We train master trainers and facilitators to deliver practical philosophy programs to educational establishments, adults in the community, enterprises and government institutions.

C. Partnership

We establish partnership with academic institutions, governmental bodies, business enterprises, charitable organisations and individual donors to support and sustain our projects for maximum societal impact.
